While listening to the radio one morning I heard an interview with someone talking about overcoming the challenges of working during lockdown. She said it was hard to care for people while wearing a mask and they had to try to smile with their eyes as people couldn't see their face.

I thought it was the perfect title for a song about trying to make the best of a tough situation during lockdown, but then I started thinking about the other metaphorical masks we all wear. Not just the masks that stop us spreading viruses, but the masks that stop us sharing our true thoughts and worries when people ask us “You alright?”.
